Hello Everyone -
I am happy for new students and new performances at Hickory Hollow Mall Tue, Aug 4th 6pm (tomorrow) for National Night Out and at Centennial Park Fri, Aug 14th 11:30am! I'm also looking forward to performing at my Unity Church in Hermitage Sun, Aug 9th 10:45am and more jazz jams at Cafe Coco. Hope to see your smiling faces in the audience :)
ADDED: I must give high praise for the Nioshi Jackson Reason concert last night at the Nashville Jazz Workshop! Wow! It was the most dynamic, fun, spiritual, and musically amazing band I've seen in ages. Thanks to Nioshi for an unbelievable music experience!
Thanks also to The Connection for a fun and soulful concert at Unity Church Friday! Karen, Kevin, Brent, Vee, Sheryl, Larry and Dawon - you guys are from the heart. I'm touched to know you.
Thank you to Masankho Banda for a powerful student testimonal, an amazing African healing ritual, and for performing with me at the Pacha Mamas Heartbeats Concert. I'm honored, and so glad to have you as a new friend.
Thanks to Sarah Dagg for calling me up to remind me I've actually been teaching since 1997 (12 years now) and give me a heartfelt testmonial out of the blue.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to my voice student Juliana Ericson, Sula De Paula and all the women at the incredible rebirthing breathwork retreat. My life will never be the same.
Congrats and Good Luck to Addy Willoughby on moving to New York! Thanks for a great goodbye party with great friends!
Also, I had a wonderful weekend in Minneapolis - 300 people for Gerry Bretzke's lively Celebration of Life, Kathleen Schuler's fantastic funk dance party, Walker Community Church, True Thai, good friends, good neighbors and new connections :) Thanks everyone!
Congratulations to Gerry & KC Bretzke for being designated
Linden Hills Neighborhood Treasures!
"Aho mitakuye oyasin". Lakota for "You are all my relatives."
God bless your Dakota Sioux/German soul, Gerry. He lived those words and died in his wife's arms with cancer at 64. I hope someday to live them as he did.
Doors close and doors open. Life keeps growing and the future looks bright.
NEW STUDENT TESTIMONIALS
"To all students of voice I wish to recommend an incredible voice teacher to you. I had one lesson with Karen and I learned tips that will help with my singing, storytelling and any public speaking that I do. I learned valuable lessons about posture, breath, sound position all in an hour voice lesson. I now have more confidence with my voice. If you are looking for a voice teacher I highly recommend Karen." Masankho K Banda -- Singer, Storyteller, Preacher
"Before I met Karen I thought of myself as a disabled person. I'd been struggling with a voice disorder, spasmodic dysphonia...for many years. Although I had regained my ability to speak before I met Karen, my speaking was not strong or confident. I can't even remember the exercises that we did for my voice. I just remember that we laughed a lot and had fun! And I know that I felt I was getting a true sense of what my voice really is like instead of just trying to talk. I changed from feeling disabled to feeling that I had, and have, a unique voice that I could nurture, support and empower. My voice is very much an expression of my sense of my whole self and I've learned that the better I feel about myself, the better and stronger my voice can become. Many people have commented in the last year that my voice sounds perfectly normal now. I want to thank you for your part in that, and I'm glad to know that more of that fun coaching is always available." Gratefully, Sarah Dagg
